The instrumental music department at South-Doyle High School actively supports music education through classroom instruction and performance. The band program follows an instrumental music curriculum that is approved by Knox County Schools and the State of Tennessee. Performance is the reward of the principles of music education provided through this curriculum.
While the musical activities are the core of our program, the total band experience provides the student far more opportunities. During the year, the student will have opportunities to participate in leadership development programs, learn and apply planning, team building skills, and spend time with other students and adults who have direction and goals as an integral part of their lives.
